Lares Aqueduct System for the Espino, Pezuela and Rio Prieto WardsConstruction (Phase II)

PROJECT OVERVIEW

This project involved a series of enhancements to the aqueduct systems in the Espino, Pezuela, and Río Prieto areas. These regions relied on either non-Puerto Rico Aqueduct and Sewer Authority or Puerto Rico Aqueduct and Sewer Authority superficial water sources lacking filtration processes.

The project’s scope included:

(1) Installation of a new 6-inch diameter transmission pipe.

(2) Implementation of a new parallel 4-inch diameter distribution pipe.

(3) Construction of a 100,000-gallon capacity water distribution tank.

(4) Installation of pressure-reducing valves along rural roads.

(5) Provision of service connections to all existing structures.

Funded by the Puerto Rico Department of Health (DOH) and Puerto Rico Aqueduct and Sewer Authority (PRASA), the project was executed in 2013, during 18 months to ensure comprehensive improvements to the water infrastructure in these areas.
